Trifecta of Summer Dueling Darling Cards!

September 15th and time for another duel with the Dueling Darling Divas and Dazzlers.  This month I'm playing catch up as I did not post my cards for the July and August duel.  My excuse is that I was traveling or about to travel. Oh, well. I hope my team thinks it's better late than never.  And speaking of teams, there are two - team Divas (my team!) and team Dazzlers.   Each month one person from each team pair up and decide on a theme for that month, create a card kit with designer papers, stamped images and multiple embellishments and send it to each member of their team.  On the 15th of the month we display our card creations on either our blogs and/or our gallery at Splitcoaststampers (SCS).  Here are my creations for July, August and September in reverse order:

Suzy (team Diva) and Debby (team Dazzler) chose the theme "Sunflowers" for September.  In my Diva kit Suzy sent this wonderful Stampendous Sunflower Ladybug stamped image!  I colored the image with Copic Markers and cut it out, mounting it on the card front with dimensionals.  I used 3 of the designer papers, the baker's twine, paper buttons embellished with the red brads in the kit.  I mounted this on panel on a turquoise cardstock panel and then on my card base.

Tami (Divas) and Terry L. (Dazzlers) chose the theme "Wine Divas" for the month of August.  In Tami's kit was this darling Art Impressions Wine Divas stamped image and sentiment.  I used the striped DSP form the kit as the background.  I stamped the image with Copic Markers and die cut it and a layering panel with Spellbinder dies; then embellished it with ribbon and pearls from the kit. The sentiment was cut to fit on the chipboard tag from the kit.

July's theme "Honeybees!" was chosen by the Terrys  - Terry S., a Diva and Terry A., a Dazzler.  The kit I received from Terry S. was chock full of great items to create cards reflecting this theme.  I really should have had this card posted in July as it was completed in time for the duel but was distracted by preparations for a month long trip.  I used a lot of the designer paper from the kit inside and out.  I die cut an oval on the front of the card to give a peak at the inside where I mounted the delightful C C Designs Heidi stamped image that I had colored with Copic Markers.  The front was embellished with bee brads, red paper flowers and a little strip of ribbon.

Inside of the card the cute little Heidi had a white paper flower in her hair.  I also use the black rhinestones from the kit and added the sentiment "Happy Bee-Day"

I gave this card to my niece for her birthday last month.  She love it!

Everything's Coming Up Roses With the Dueling Darlings!

It's June 15th and time for another duel with the Dueling Darlings. For June our hostesses Carol (for team Divas, my team) and Shelly (team Dazzlers) chose the theme "Everything's Coming Up Roses" as the rose is the flower for the month of June.  Here's what Carol had to say about the lovely card kit she send team Diva:
"Your kit included DSP from JoAnns American Crafts and the glitter paper not sure what the company it is.  The rose images all came from a set I purchased on Wish.com and didn't have any kind of name of company name on it.  I have a rose from Gina K in there as well and I wrote her name on those images.  The roses are from recollections and the rest of the embellishments are from my stash.   Since roses come in different colors please color your rose in your favorite rose color that you either like to receive or send.  Please, also, let us know what your all time favorite color of rose is (if different from the rose color on your card).  I have attached meanings of each color if you are interested...
Red:  I love you, passion, respect, courage; Pale pink:  grace, admiration, elegance; Deep pink:  gratitude, refinement, appreciation; Orange:  fascination, passion, desire, pride;  Coral:  desire, fascination; Peach: believe me, modesty, sweetness;  Yellow:  joy, happiness, caring, true friendship;  White:  innocence, purity, loyalty; Burgundy:  undying love, unconscious beauty; Lavender: love at first sight, enchantment."

Here's my card:

I chose this deep, rich, glorious rose paper in Carol's kit as the background and based the coloring of my rose on the Gina K stamped image on the deepest reds on this paper.  The rose was colored with Copic markers and die cut with oval die and mounted on another scalloped die cut with the black glitter paper from the kit.  The oval die cuts were then mounted on a third die cut from a scrap of red cardstock.  I heat embossed the "Happy Birthday" sentiment from JustRite Clear "Large Fancy Sentiments"in detail black embossing powder, cut and mounted it on a strip of Stampin' Up Cherry Cobbler cardstock, trimmed it with  piece of the the black lacy ribbon from the kit and rhinestone embellishments from the kit.  The design of the cards is from CAS(E) this sketch!, CTS #274 Here:

I was so delighted to receive this kit from Carol in time to make a birthday card for my friend's June birthday!  She loved it!!  Although I colored the rose on my card in red, my favorite rose colors range from peach to deep orange.  I have several favorite roses.  One is called "Evelyn", an  David Austin English rose, that is a peachy pink and very fragrant.  I particularly love it as my mother's name was Evelyn.  After the death of my mother about 30 years ago I bought "Evelyn" rose bushes for my sisters and my mother's brother to plant in honor of her.

My second favorite rose is one of the few roses that have flourished in our hot dry Arizona desert climate and is appropriately named "Arizona".  The color of the rose varies from pale pink to deepest orange and is reminiscent of our awesome Arizona sunsets!

Dueling with the Darlings Times Two

The 15th of the month a wonderful group of very creative card makers create cards from a kit provided by one of their teammates and post their creations on either their blog or on Splitcoaststampers (SCS) website gallery.  The teams are the Dueling Darling Divas and Dazzlers.  My team is the Divas and I will be posting 2 cards this month as I am very, very late posting my card that was due to be posted on April 15th.

For April's "duel" the hostesses were Barbara for team Diva (my team) and Tracie for team Dazzlers.  They chose the theme "April Showers".  Barb sent a fantastic kit just full of beautiful papers, stamped images and lots of embellishments.  Here is my card:

Stamped Image:  Whipper Snapper Design "Umbrella and Slicker"

Patterned Paper:  Echo Park Paper - Spring "Hello Spring" "Beaming Butterflies"; Pebbles Love You More - Ainsley (Umbrellas-Rain); Bazzill Tahitian Princess (dotted); Crate Paper Bloom "Delighted"

Various Embellishments:  White Tear Drop Pearls; Raindrops; Blue Sequins; Buttons - White, Tangerine Tango, Bermuda Bay;  Ribbons - Stampin' Up 3/8" Daffodil Delight Taffeta, 1/4" Cotton, 3/8" Pool Party Glitter, White, 1/2" Pink Pirouette Seam Binding;  Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight Baker's Twine

I used sketch SC694 from Splitcoaststampers as my design and colored my image with Copic Markers:
sc694c.jpg

Sentiment on the inside of the card is Whipper Snapper Design "Friends are Umbrellas".
Cardstock papers are various colors from Recollections.

My second card is for today's duel hosted by Heather for team Divas and Paola for team Dazzlers.  The theme they chose is "A Spring Tweet" and in Heather's words: "Spring has been a long time coming!  It feels lk the snow is lingering and the weather just refuses to warm up!  Our feathered friends often bring those first signs of spring, so we're ready to encourage them along this month!"
Here's my card:

Stamped Image: Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps "Black Capped Chickadees" (The kit also included another stamped image by Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps "A Mother's Love".)

Papers:  Bo Bunny " Serendipity" collection

Emellishments  & Ribbons - Various

I used another SCS sketch SC696 for my design:sc696may18cc.jpg

I used a scrap of blue cardstock and embossed it with a with Cuttlebug "Musical Flourish" embossing folder.  The Black Cap Chickadees were colored with Copic Markers after I checked one of our Bird books for correct coloring, then did a little fussy cutting out and mounted in on the top panel with dimensional foam adhesives.  the panels were backed with blue and brown cardstock.

Celebrating Birthdays with the Dueling Darlings!

It's March 15th and time for another duel with the Dueling Darling Divas and Dazzlers.  This month hostesses Donna for team Dazzlers and me for team Divas chose the theme "Birthdays".  I had a special reason for choosing this theme as some very special people in my life are celebrating milestone birthdays this month.   My Uncle Dick just celebrated his 90th birthday on Monday and my husband Pat will be celebrating his 80th birthday on March 26th.  Not only are these significant birthdays being celebrated this month but also the team leader for the Divas, our own Kelly Santi, will be celebrating a birthday on March 28th.  Here are some of the cards I've made from the kit I compiled for the Divas:
This card for my Uncle Dick was so much fun to make.  I used Splitcoaststamper Sketch SC687 for the design. And die cut the 90 and the circle.
The design on this card is from the Splitcoaststamper sketch SC688.  The image was stamped with a Stampendous stamp "Drift Gift", die cut and colored with Copic Markers.  A little sparkle added with sequins and stickles.
The inside of the card has a Inkadinkado stamped greeting.

I love this stamp from Art Impressions' "Wine Divas".  I sure have a lot of friends who enjoy their wine and would appreciate this card! The "Wine Divas" were colored with Copic Markers and enhanced with a little Stickles glitter and an adhesive gift package.   Stamped sentiments were also from the "Wine Divas" stamp set.

The inside of the card has two stamped sentiments.  One from "Wine Divas" and the other from Art Impressions.

All cards feature designer papers from We R Memory Keepers "Cake and Candles" collection.

I hope you enjoyed checking out my card creations.  I have to now get busy making more cards for more March birthdays for my brother-in-law, 2 nephews and several friends.  Also planning and preparing for a BIG birthday celebration for my Darling Husband's 80th birthday a week from Saturday....So much to do!!!

Loving London!

It's February 15th and time to duel with the Dueling Darling Divas and Dazzlers!  This month our hostesses are Kelly for team Divas and Jeanette for team Dazzlers.  They have chosen the theme "Something I Love"...a perfect theme for February!  So Kelly told us she chose to feature something she loved - Europe! and sent a kit that included stamped images of iconic London landmarks.  I love London too so it brought back wonderful memories as I created this card:

Included in the kit were:

Stamped Images:  My Favorite Things London Mouse (and die cuts)
Papers:  Hearts/travel paper from Hobby Lobby; Geometric paper "Travel" from American Crafts
Ribbons:  Hobby Lobby, red twine from The Baker's Twinery
Embellishments: Tree House Studio sequins, Sewology buttons, Paper Studio gems, Making Memories brads

I used the wonderful Geometric paper "Travel" from American Crafts, colored the die cut stamped images with my Copic Markers and added the twin and a several sequins for a little sparkle.  I layered in on black cardstock and attached in to a white cardstock base.

Celebrating a New Year with the Dueling Darlings!

January 15th and time to duel it with the Dueling Darling Diva and Dazzlers.  This month our team leaders Laura Jean for team Divas and Darlene for team Dazzlers have chosen the theme "New Year".  We were asked to be a little creative by incorporating an image using our own stamps along with the stamped calendar image they provided to create a New Year card.  I chose to go a little different with the theme and made a birthday card for my friend whose birthday falls on January 10th.   Included in the kit were some terrific patterned papers from Paper Studio "Mint to be Fab" foil pack, several stamped January 2018 calendar images, buttons and sequin strip, gold colored gem stones and black and white ribbon.  Here's my card:
I used some of my black cardstock and gold metallic cardstock. The layout is based on Splitcoaststampers sketch SC679.  Here's the inside of the card:
